Safety and Security
The safety of our pupils is our highest priority, and it is essential that their whereabouts are known at all times. Each pupil is responsible for ensuring their HMM is informed, supported by systems in place to uphold this.
Registration
We have formal registration three times a day, plus roll-calls. If a pupil is not present at one of these, we use our electronic alert system to ascertain their whereabouts.
Each House can only be accessed via a code entered into a keypad. This information is shared between pupils and staff but not more widely. We know that parents will understand that it is important that they do not ask to know this code or access the House independently of their child or a member of staff.
Bounds & Permitted Areas
Pupils must have permission from their Housemaster or Housemistress (HMM) before leaving the College grounds. This is usually granted on weekends:
- Third and Fourth Forms may visit Lancing and Shoreham.
- Fifth and Sixth Forms may also visit Brighton or Worthing, once all school commitments are met.
The following areas are always out of bounds unless part of a supervised activity:
- Beyond Sankey’s, including the Open Air Theatre
- All adjoining farmland
- The path south of the school between School and Teme Houses
- The Ladywell Valley
- After dark: playing fields and all areas east of the Chapel
Lawns & Farmland
- Only Prefects may walk on the grass of the Lower Quad.
- No running on banks, cycling on grass, or ball games in the Lower or Upper Quads or near the Chapel.
- Farmland next to the College is strictly out of bounds.
These rules help us maintain our beautiful surroundings while ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all. Thank you for following them!
