A Guide for Pupils

Co-curricular activities at Lancing are an essential part of school life, offering opportunities for pupils to step beyond the classroom and explore a diverse range of interests. Whether in sport, music, drama, dance, or hands-on projects like making skateboards in DT or building robots in Electronics, there is something for everyone.

Daily Co-Curricular Programme

The majority of activities take place in the timetabled co-curricular slot each afternoon (16:00 – 17:45). Pupils across all year groups are encouraged to take part, and we recommend signing up for at least four activities out of the ten available weekly slots. This leaves time for independent pursuits, whether that be music practice, a tennis lesson, academic enrichment, or simply relaxing with friends. Pupils who wish to immerse themselves further are welcome to take part in additional activities.

Third Formers also follow a Monday afternoon activity carousel (16:00 – 17:00) during the Advent and Lent Terms, experiencing a range of options such as Cooking, Dance, Electronics, Squash, Self-Defence, Fencing, Five-a-side Football, Music, and visits to the Equestrian Centre and School Farm. They are encouraged to participate in at least one creative activity per term, allowing them to explore new interests and uncover hidden talents. Drama and Music both offer Third Form-specific projects that serve as stepping stones for future involvement.

If pupils are unsure about what to get involved in, their Tutor and Housemaster/Housemistress will be on hand to guide them through the options. With so much to choose from, there is truly something for everyone.
